Why We Are Here

Harbour Lights Community was created to bring together lived experience, research and professional expertise, organised around the questions women are actually trying to answer.

Our purpose is to combine existing knowledge in ways that make it easier to recognise, understand and use within the realities women are facing.

Our role is to create the conditions in which women can examine their own experience, recognise patterns where they exist, understand their options and decide their own next step.

We aim to ensure that every interaction leaves a woman with greater understanding, greater clarity and greater confidence in her own judgement than when she arrived.

Because understanding what is happening is only part of the challenge.

Women are often forced to make decisions that affect their children, their financial security, their safety and their future before they have had the opportunity to understand the situation they are responding to.

The knowledge that could help already exists within research, professional expertise and the lived experience of women who have travelled this path before.

Yet it is rarely organised around the questions women need answered as they make those decisions.

Instead, they are left to search for information, connect ideas from different places and decide what is relevant, often while carrying the emotional and practical demands of the situation itself.

Harbour Lights Community exists to reduce that burden.
